Today was the great finale, the last day of the IBU World Championships in Nove Mesto na Morave, which for the first time ever took place in the Czech Republic. “I think there is nothing to be ashamed of; the WCH has been successful,” shorty assessed the Championship Jiri Hamza, the President of Organizing Committee. 

Norwegian Championship in Nove Město na Moravě has ended. Pardon us, the World Championships, even though the Norwegians have nearly transformed it into their separate home championship. The last competition – 15K Mass Start Men – won Tarjei Boe, the fourth finished Ondřej Moravec massively cheered by a fantastic home crowd and he equaled his result from the 20K Men Individual Race.

The last women's competition of the IBU Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto belonged to Darya Domracheva. The biathlete from Belarus masterfully ruled the mass start and improved her reputation after unlucky previous days in NMNM.

Mass Start is another contact discipline as well as one that a biathlete has to qualify for. It first appeared in World Championships in 1999 in Oslo. The Olympic premiere happened in 2006 in Torino.

Norway is re-writing the biathlon history. Their Men’s relay yesterday won the gold medal by a large margin and on top of that in these Championships it’s the seventh gold, which makes them the only country ever to be that successful. Today they have the opportunity to even extend their unique medal collection in the Mass start races.
